Since
its inception in 1927, the Rancho Santa Fe Association
has made every effort to protect, preserve, maintain
and enhance the community, its natural resources,
beauty, quality of life and community character.
That Rancho Santa Fe continues to be a highly
desirous place to live is reflective of the care,
caution and regulation with which the development
of the community has proceeded. There are winding
rural roadways, rolling eucalyptus-covered hills,
green pastures and citrus groves.

This
8,500 square foot building has a large multi-purpose
room that will easily convert for half-court basketball,
gymnastics, fitness programs, volleyball and other
sports uses. With seating capacity for approximately
250, other uses include media productions, lectures,
musical and dance performances and community theater.
Two additional activity rooms, one on each level,
will be available for senior activities, adult
education, conferences and meetings.

The
Rancho Santa Fe Foundation was formed as an independent
entity to recieve donations of land and money
to preserve the character of the community. The
Foundation provides an opportunity for these donations
to be made in a manner that will result in tax
advantages for the donor. Through these gifts,
the Foundation has assembled several parcels which
are held as community open space.

The
Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District was formed
on October 14, 1946 under an order adopted by
the County Board of Supervisors. At the time,
the Fire District was comprised of one Chief and
15 volunteer suppression personnel who protected
an estimated 3,800 residents.

RSF Garden Club

The
Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club was founded in 1926.
Now, as it was upon its founding, the Club's objective
is to encourage interest in gardening and landscaping
on the Ranch and to promote civic pride through
beautification. The Club has a membership of over
1,200. The membership engages in a variety of
cultural, educational and social activities. Annually,
the Club stages a much-anticipated community-wide
rummage sale. The Garden Club building is located
in the village at the corner of La Grenada and
Avenida de Acacias. The facility includes an auditorium
with a capacity of 300 and a kitchen. The clubhouse
is available for use by Club members for special
events. The Club has also graciously hosted some
of the most important civic events of the community
and overflow public meetings of the Association.
Membership in the Club is restricted to those
who have owned Covenant property for over six
months and who are sponsored by current members.

The
Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club is nestled in the heart
of the historic Rancho Santa Fe "Covenant"
area. The Club's championship course, long regarded
as one of the premier golf venues in the western
United States, sets a tone of rustic beauty and
elegance for the "Covenant".

RSF Historical Society

The
Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society sponsors a
wide variety of programs and activities aimed
at protecting and preserving the historical heritage
of the community. The Society plays a key role
in collecting, cataloging and preserving Ranch
history in their archives as well as publishing
a variety of books, brochures, videos and other
materials that highlight Ranch history. The society
maintains a historical library and archives at
its headquarters located in the historic La Flecha
House located on the corner of La Flecha and Via
de Santa Fe. This community-serving facility provides
office space to the Sheriff's Department and is
also available for community functions and activities.

The
community library is a part of the Serra Regional
Library system. Although it is operated by the
County of San Diego, the library has been the
beneficiary of the considerable efforts of the
Library Guild. In fact, the guild owns the building
and the grounds and provides much of the operating
budget. The library has recently undergone a major
remodeling which has increased its service to
the community.
